Halloween

Halloween is on the night of the 31st October. It isn’t a modern celebration. It is very old. It started in Ireland in the 5th century BC. It was on the day of the Celtic New Year and it was called Samhan. It was a holiday.

Today Halloween celebrations are very popular in Great Britain, Ireland and the USA. There are Halloween dances and people wear frightening clothes. Children go from house to house saying ‘trick or treat’. People give them food and sweets.
