The Six Nations Tournament

The Six Nations is a very old rugby tournament. It started in 1882. Only England and Wales played in the first tournament. For many years, only England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland played in the tournament. Then France joined in 1910 and it became the Five Nations tournament.

Today the players are professionals. They all play in rugby league clubs. In the tournament, if one team wins every match, it wins the Grand Slam. If a team wins no matches, it gets the Wooden Spoon.
