A Swedish monster!
Most people know Nessie, the famous Scottish monster from Loch Ness in Scotland. Every year tourists visit Scotland from all over the world, as everyone wants to see Nessie. Norway has its own monster, too. Its name is Selma and it lives in a lake called Seljord Water about 200 km south-west of Oslo. Selma is about 10 metres long with a head like a horse. Norwegian scientists take Selma very seriously.
Nessie and Thelma have a Swedish cousin. It lives about 400 km north of Stockholm in a lake called Storsjön, which means "the Great Lake", and it's named Storsjöodjuret – the Great Lake Monster – or just Storsie. It is between 5 and 15 metres long; sometimes it is green and sometimes it is red, and it has a head like a fish. It usually appears in the summer when people are on holiday and the weather is not very good. Just like Nessie and Selma!
