Twelve days of Christmas
Around the world, people celebrate the Christmas season in different ways. In some countries like Sweden, the first feast day is Saint Lucia on December 13th. On this day, children eat special buns and they make and wear crowns. In Britain, Boxing Day on December 26th is a holiday. This is not a religious feast but it is very old.
Nobody knows the exact origin of Boxing Day but it probably started in the Middle Ages. On this day, people give gifts to the poor and employers give gifts to their employees. Another important feast day is the 6th January.
This is the last of the twelve days of Christmas, which start on Christmas day. In Spain, the Feast of Epiphany or the Three Kings, is an important holiday. Children receive gifts and people eat special bread with a very small baby in it. The person with the baby, wears a paper crown.
